Why We Like It

Oldsmobile has long had a devoted following and it’s cars like these that helped establish that loyalty. This particular example is the midline Holiday 88 Sedan, an almost entry level car for the marque, but well outfitted as an Oldsmobile is expected to be. From the factory, they’re equipped with either a 330ci or 394ci V8 engine which could generate 330hp, although this one is likely the 300hp version, which is obviously still very healthy, but the description is lacking in much of anything.

The brightwork is similarly kept, and the interior is likewise, with a front bench seat that appears in excellent condition, a dash pad that is straight and flat without apparent cracks, a wonderful dashboard layout, perfect steering wheel, and carpeting that seems well kept. It’s powerful, comfortable, smart looking for the era, and it was a sweet middle point between luxury and performance, and this one is hard to resist. We love the no-post side windows giving a completely open feel when all four windows are down – this really is a cool classic!

Valuation Verdict

Poking around the market will find a small army of 5th generation Oldsmobile 88s from 1961 to 1964, but interestingly not many 4-doors, especially in this nice, original condition. They’re rare, and rolling into a cars and coffee or cruise night with this Olds is sure to turn some heads and raise some eyebrows. As original as it seems to be, duplicating this opportunity would be difficult, and it’s priced a few thousand dollars less than the couple others out there for sale, leading us to call it very fair market.
