Why We Like It

At Zero260, we absolutely love the stealthy rarities developed and offered over the past 50-plus years by the engineering and racing wizards at BMW’s legendary ‘M’ Motorsports division. This genuine E34-generation 1994 BMW E34 M5 Touring is an outstanding and extremely charismatic case in point.

According to the Seller, it is now available for purchase with just 42,200 stated miles, converted from the currently indicated 67,900 kilometers showing on the odometer. The Seller further states that they believe they are the car’s fourth owner, since they purchased this Euro-spec car during January 2020 from a specialty dealer located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visually striking in Avus Blue over Black Extended Nappa Leather upholstery that looks fabulous, this M5 Touring is understood to be exceedingly rare as 1 of only 891 E34 M5 Touring models produced worldwide. Awesome performance comes from the final version of the ‘S38B38’ engine displacing 3.8L and producing 340 hp and 295 lb-ft. of peak torque, hooked to a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. According to marque experts, just 209 of these late-production cars were produced in this configuration. Not Your Typical Soccer Wagon: 42k Mile, 1994 BMW E34 M5 Touring 6-SpeedIMG 7928

A wide array of further highlights include the Nürburgring suspension with Electronic Damping Control, Servotronic steering, staggered 18-inch M-Parallel wheels, Motorsport style mirrors, Shadowline exterior trim, the Headlamp Intensive Cleaning system, a power double sliding/tilt electric sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, roller sunshades, the BMW Business stereo with Hi-Fi loudspeaker system, on-board computer, and alarm system. Built on July 28, 1994 for the German Market, the M5 Touring is advertised as remaining in stock mechanical condition, thankfully with no performance upgrades or modifications.

As stated by the Seller, the M5 Touring is offered in excellent condition throughout with an excellent paint finish and no significant imperfections or blemishes, complemented by the well-preserved interior compartment featuring supple leather, clean carpets and no visible wear areas. Garage storage and fair-weather enjoyment has also contributed to the remarkable cleanliness and integrity of the Bimmer’s body and undercarriage. The seller also had the engine’s compression tested, with a variance of just 6 PSI found across all 6 cylinders. As advertised, all keys, books and manuals are included, along with a clean vehicle history report confirming no accidents.

Valuation Verdict

Predictably, this M5 Touring has been a standout and crowd magnet for the Seller during their ownership, confirming the considerable and priceless “fun factor” of this rare BMW performer, in addition to its renowned performance potential. Maintenance and care have been considerable to say the least, including installation of a new steering box, new struts to the rear door window, new shift linkage, and application of protective ceramic paint coating and tasteful ceramic window tint. Given its rarity, few comparable sales are available for viewing and this 28-year-old car’s stellar condition speaks for itself, making it difficult to place a value on it. However, after some time spend behind the wheel of this BMW confection, we’re sure the cost will fade into the distance of the buyer’s rear-view mirror, making it well ‘Worth-the-Premium’, in our opinion.
